The good, the bad but how awesome! So unfortunately, I did not lose any weight this week.  However, I did not gain any weight either.  Another great progress, I did lose some unwanted inches off of my body! Success!  I am really happy to see a difference in my frame. Although it is weird to feel the muscles on the backs of my whole leg, it is exciting to know that it is no longer fat.  The fat needs to move out because the muscles are moving in!

What I Ate Before P90X.

My problem was not what I ate, it was how much I ate in one sitting. I believe I can eat more than 2 grown men if I wanted to. I love vegetables, meat, fruit and things that are made with 100% whole wheat. But I ate a lot of it. Sometimes, I eat cause it tastes good...not because I was still hungry. I even tried to fool my brain into thinking I was full by drinking tons of water before a meal. That only worked for a little while.

I ate a lot of carbs too. I ate a lot of rice and noodles. My family usually go out to eat about 10 meals a week. We go to Asian restaurants mostly. We like to go to sushi, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and sometimes Combodian food. We eat pho http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pho (Vietnamese) once or twice a week for sure. Once in a great while, we will go eat at American food establishments...most of the time, it will be at Buckhorn Grill. The Cabo Chop Salad is my fav and its refreshing and delicious. I add salmon to mine sometimes for more protein. I think eating out is a luxury, but you dont exactly know what you are eating.

My In-Laws are really great cooks. Since they live really, really close...we eat over, maybe 3 times a week for dinner. Homecooked Chinese food, variety of species of FRESH fish (Father in Law is a hobby fisherman) and large pot of different kinds of delicious hearty soups. They always have a huge rice cooker full of white rice. My mother in law also likes to watch what she eats, so she has brown rice stashed somewhere in her pantry too.

Just before P90X, Actually within the last 6 months...I played co-ed softball with my husband, 3 sisters and friends. After our games, there was happy hour at the clubhouse. During happy hour, there were $7.50 pitchers of beer. The appetizers like nachos, hot wings and pizza were half priced. So, being famished, cold, and ready to mingle...we stay for 2-3 hours drinking beer and eat over processed food.

Side Note: Yes, I am not huge but yet not skinny either. I actually like the way I look with clothes on but my tummy area is my problem area. Having two kids has not been nice to my once flat, skinny abs. I am consider to be skinny fat my body fat percentage is probably 29% and I sport a muffin top. I wish I can find jeans that can fit both my skinny legs and waist. Do you know how many times I googled, "fashionable high waisted jeans"? More than I can remember. But when those fashionable high waisted jeans were in season and in style, they cost more than $150! Absolutely ridiculous! Dont get me wrong, if I didnt have kids...I would get them in a heart beat!

Since I can not buy those expensive jeans, I will have to eat better and get my body into a fabulous shape. The body that can fit into any jeans I put on in fact. Anyways, I have to say goodbye to the foods I used to eat for awhile cause what I ate before P90X was not working for me.

P90X Day 6: Kenpo X

KENPO X
Work Out Time_55:46

It is described as a "Cardiovascular Self-Defense". Kenpo () X's vibe is like an actual martial arts class, without getting your hands slapped by a stick if you dont do it right. If you like to learn how to kick, punch, jab, knee, elbow and uppercut someone...this ones it.

It is known to be the one thats suppose to be a fun and relaxed. But, I personally didnt like it. Im used to More aerobic kickboxing. This dvd seemed lil too stiff for a cardio workout...but for a dude, its probably the norm. I think Turbo Jam spoiled me...with rhythmic music to the moves, its a lot better. It is just my personal take on a home cardio workout.

Personal Note: Apparently, there is a muscle on the back of the leg behind the knee...um, It is SORE! Everything other than that muscle and the gluts...im pretty dang good. I am craving carbs lately, but too full to eat anymore than I need to. I also have been good not eating desserts, like chocolate and cookies. Can you say, willpower? Heck ya!

P90X Day 5: Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X

Legs & Back
Work Out Time_58:56

"Quality VS Quantity"-Tony Horton

"Oh man, not legs". My Legs feel like they are made out of lead by now. But like they always say, "No Pain, No Gain"...jerks. This workout exercises both the lower and upper part of your body. You are basically going to work every part of your body, point blank. By far, this dvd is the one that made me sweat the most! Make sure you have a towel on the floor...my shirt has never been so drenched...yuck!

Get ready to lunge, squat, bend this way and that way. This dvd will strengthen your booty, hamstrings, and most definitely your calves. Have you seen Courtney Cox in 'Scream 2'? Well in that movie, she had killer calves...man, its to die for! Anyways, im sure if I keep going...my calves will look just as fantastic as hers.

Legs and Back is a dvd where you do pull ups to work your back. There were two ways to do a pull up work out. They had an actual pull up bar to do 4 different ways to pull up. The girl in the dvd used a chair to help her lift up, so there is a way to do this dvd, ladies. The other way was to use a band to do a pull down motion while kneeling on one knee on the floor. So guess what? I had neither. But that didnt stop me...I improvised and used my dumbbells. I raised my dumbbells above my head and do a pull up motion, while positioning my hands and arms just like Tony demonstrates in the workouts. Its better than doing nothing...and trut me, you get a good back and shoulder workout!

Ab Ripper X
Work Out Time_16:07

As like day 3,
The Ab Ripper X is pure torture, but I did it with lil more ease this round. It did not help that I just finished a leg workout, but it was better than the first time around.

Im famished, must drink a recovery drink...Ciao!

P90X Day 4: Yoga X

Yoga X
Work Out Time_92:24

I went in with an open mind, determined and relaxed to my tippy toes..."you want me to do what!?...oh, FML.", "I hate Yoga!!" & "Shut up Tony" were few things I blurted out during the first quarter of the dvd. LOL. Are you scared?

No, Yoga could have not came in a better time. Yoga X is the best workout to do on the fourth day. I hated it at first because I am not flexible and like again, I wasn't familiar with the poses. BUT, once I got used to the routine, it got easier. You practically stretch every part of your body in this 92 minute workout. Well, the last 10 minutes is pure relaxation...almost puts you to sleep. Don't get it twisted tho, Yoga is not for wimps, especially Yoga X. I have nothing else to say but to come prepare to sweat!

For a personal note: Today, my shoulders are now sore but my legs are getting less sore. But, I always love the feeling of the last 5 minutes of every workout. The excitement that the exercise is almost over. The fulfillment of just having a work out done for the day, even if it is 11:30pm. The pure bliss that, my body is one more day better than yesterday.

Now, it is rather late. I need to hit the showers and watch my favorite show...Top Chef: TEXAS! Nite All!

My Past Weight Loss Journey

This is not my first time losing weight. After my first born, I joined Nutrisystem, used their online support website and exercised with Turbo Jam dvds and run at my local lake. Within 3-4 months, I lost about 35 pounds.

I am using my photobucket account today. It is the only way I am able to upload a picture here, yet I cant see what im posting cause Ipad is not affiliated with Adobe programs....boo! I can not wait til I get a PC or a Mac! This is just 1 month and a half of the program...i hate my over-stretched out stretch marks :(. Girls, when you are planning to get pregnant...Moisturize Religiously!! I wish someone told me that :'(. When your stomach is itchy, rub some lotion or my favorite, Palmers Skin Therapy Oil on!

P90X Day 3: Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X

SHOULDERS & ARMS
workout time_59:53

So the dreaded third day, as it always happens to me...IM SORE! So today, i was fine doing the first workout. I did the Shoulders and Arms. I only used 3lb dumbbells through out the whole workout. When they took breaks, I kept the weights on (im using the one with plastic straps on them). I am going to go buy a set of 5lb and 8lb dumbbells for the next workout. The 3lbs are easy, but you still feel soreness the next day. You can do more reps with lighter weights obviously. So when Tony was done with his reps and had more time on the timer...i kept on doing more reps til the time went out. Those of you who will use a heavier weights, just make sure you have lighter back up sets. Form is everything when are doing any strength training, not a time to show off and pop a vein...lol.

AB RIPPER X
workout time_16:07

The next Dvd was the Ab Ripper X. So get this, with this workout...it was a joke for ME to do. My legs are sooooo sore that, i could not do most of the reps/sets. You need the strength of your legs to do most of the ab work out. If you did the previous dvds and you are not in the best best shape...you will be sore. It is a 12 minutes of hard core full on torture. Tony's Ab Ripper X is so grueling that, I wanted to quit so many times. I was raised right, and daddy doesnt like quitters. Since Im no quitter, i just did what I can, and "tried" to keep my form as best as I can. Girls, you will not look cute...trust me. Tony said that if this is your first time doing P90X, dont worry...most of the people who "graduated" from P90X could not do a lot of the workouts on their first try!

I am not going to be discouraged, I will keep going. I know this is not going to happen overnight.

P90X Day 2: Cardio X

Just finished my 2nd day work out:

Cardio X
Work out Time_43:18

It was pretty easy AFTER the yoga warm up rounds. I am no means by any shape and form flexible... So if P90X can improve my flexiblity...I will give a random stranger 100 dollars. Pay it forward. :).

The first twenty minutes was quite boring for me tho. I wanted to head butt Tony, cause he wouldnt shut up...i guess the pains of stretching got to me...lol. For a person who doesnt know a lick of yoga poses, it was hard to know what he was talking about. I got a headache looking up at the tv while in a downward dog position, just to see if I was doing it correctly. Im sure everyone knows what im talkin about. Trying to concentrate and having your blood rush into your brain is not fun at all.

Lesson Learned. I will read Cardio X in my Fitness Guide on page 93-97 before workout. I will keep a written guideline of the workout on the floor right below my face. It will help, so i dont have to look up while doing a unusual pose stance.

The rest of the workout consists of Kenpo (kickboxing type of moves) and different types of sports drills. I have been an athlete all through middle school, high school and college. It was pretty fun to do some drills that i was familiar with.

Overall, I think next week doing Cardio X will be pretty easy. I will "bring it" for sure!

Weight Loss Update

It has been 6 months since my last update on my weight loss program.  I weigh 135lbs now.  My lowest weight in the last 6 months was 128lbs. The cold weather and the holidays season got the best of me in the last month and I naturally gained some weight back.  My stamina is pretty decent, but I know I can be better.

Today is the first day of the year and I got plans to whip myself into shape.  I got 3 big goals to meet, so that will push me even harder.  It is really Important to make goals for myself or else I will lag and not put too much into my weight loss goal.  I also reward myself  something tangible and materalistic so that I can...well want to meet that goal even more.

So the 3 goals are:

My 30th Birthday Bash is in first weekend of March.  It is in Vegas so I got a Size 3 motivation dress to...well motivate me, of course!  I am pretty good on motivating myself with something pretty to wear at the end of all the hard work and dedication. I will put myself and body through quite intense workouts, i can feel it already.  I also may reward myself with a new wardrobe if everything goes to plan.  What girl in their right minds dont want to throw out all their "fat" clothes and get new digs?  Lol.

I am also running the Diva's Half Marathon in San Francisco in May.  I really do need to be ready for that.  It will be one of my biggest accomplishments for my love of running...to complete that race.

The summer of 2012 will be the best summer for me because I will work hard to be able to wear a bikini in public for the first time in 6 years. (I wear a two piece in day spas but its either that or be naked. So basically I only got one choice...lol.)  My family and I want to go to Hawaii this summer...so, It will truly feel fabulous to feel good in my own skin in the land of half naked girls. I will not be threatened by no Luau Girl!

Before and After photos will be shared...Im going to work hard for myself and hope you will get motivated too as you read my upcoming blog posts.
